A periodontist is a dentist who is an expert in the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of periodontal diseases, and in the planning, placement and maintenance of dental implants.

Approximately 75% of all Americans have some form of periodontal disease, known by many as gum disease. These usually painless diseases often can go undetected until it is too late. If left untreated, gum disease can destroy the bone and tissue surrounding the teeth, causing them to become loose and, in some cases, painful. In addition, gum disease can cause bad breath and change the appearance of your smile. If the condition progresses far enough, you can lose your teeth. Common procedures include: gum surgery, bone grafts, gum graft, crown lengthening, and guided tissue regeneration.

Your dentist and periodontist work together as a team to provide you with the best possible dental care. They combine their experience to formulate the best treatment plan for you.

Your smile is the most important part of your face. The gum line must be even-flowing, symmetrical and natural.
Cosmetic Crown Lengthening, Cosmetic Ridge Augmentation, Connective Tissue Grafting.

Dental implants are artificial substitutes for natural tooth roots. Implants, small anchors shaped like cylinders, are placed into the jaw bone. Replacement teeth are attached to the part of the implant that projects through the gums.

Often referred to as "TMJ" which is the temporomandibular joint, these diseases can be associated with the joint itself, or associated facial muscles. Pain may even be referred to the area from other sources such as neck or teeth. Symptoms vary from patient to patient depending on which areas are involved and may include headaches, discomfort from clicking or popping of the jaw joints, limited mouth opening and movement, earaches, and neck and shoulder pain.

While snoring itself may be harmless, it can also develop into, or be a symptom of, a more serious medical condition known as obstructive sleep apnea (OSA).

Maintenance therapy is an ongoing program designed to prevent disease in the gum tissues and bone supporting your teeth. The building blocks of this program are simple: conscientious care of your mouth at home and regular maintenance visits with your dentist and periodontist.

Plagued by chronic bad breath? Chances are you can blame it, not on your diet, teeth or gums, but on your tongue. And the solution may be as simple as adding a daily tongue cleaning to your regular brushing and flossing routine.
