About
Dr. Blough Graduating
from Temple University with a D.D.S. in 1979, Dr. Blough completed his internship at
Abington Memorial Hospital in Philadelphia, PA., in 1980. While serving in the
United States Navy, he completed a one year Fellowship in Exodontia with a strong
concentration in treating impacted and infected teeth. His Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgery training was completed at the Naval Hospital in Portsmouth, VA, in 1989. In
1988, while in training, Dr. Blough was also certified in Branmark Implantology. He was
board certified in 1992.
Since leaving the service, Dr. Blough is the first Oral and Maxillofacial
Surgeon in Rhode Island to offer laser surgery for a variety of soft tissue problems,
including treatment for Snoring and Obstructive Sleep Apnea.
Dr. Blough, a member of the Tufts Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department,
teaches oral surgery and laser surgery to dental students and residents. He is also a
member of the Kent County Hospital, Roger Williams Hospital, and Newport Hospital.
His active memberships include: American Association of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgeons, American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, American Dental
Association, Greater Rhode Island Implant Study Group, Rhode Island Dental Associatio,
International Congress of Oral Implantologists and the United States Naval
Reserve.
